On January 11, 2014, Mr. Chokchai Panyayong, Acting President of Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI), Captain Woranate Laprabang, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Thai Smile Airways Company Limited, Mr. Chutinunt Bhirombhakdi, Chairman of the Paralympic Committee of Thailand, and committee members gathered to send off the Thai Paralympic athletes competing at the 7th ASEAN Para Games being held at Naypyidaw, Myanmar. THAI chartered two special flights, TG8090 and TG 8092, to transport the athletes, the Paralympic Committee of Thailand and related officials numbering 339 people, from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Naypyidaw.
Mr. Chokchai Panyayong stated that THAI chartered two special flights for January 11, 2014 as a gesture of moral support for the team of athletes competing at the ASEAN Para Games. Flight TG8090 departed Suvarnabhumi Airport at 8.00 hrs., arriving at Naypyidaw at 9.10 hrs. Flight TG8092 departed the same airport at 12.55 hrs. and arrived at Naypyidaw at 14.05 hrs.
THAI provided extra services to facilitate the convenience of the traveling athletes and delegation. Ground services opened two dedicated check-in counters to streamline the process of checking in and loading baggage. It also gathered ground staff from both THAI and Thai Smile skilled at handling passengers’ special needs to look after all the athletes and the entire delegation. Pre-check-in was also arranged to speed up the process. Furthermore, the on-board welcome included the addition of refreshing herbal drinks and a well-wishing “THAI: Cheering You in Spirit” gesture to boost the athletes’ morale in giving their best efforts to make the country proud.
